Elmer Floyd - Head Pastor

Elmer grew up in Blue Island, Illinois, a southern suburb of Chicago. He graduated from Wheaton College with a B.S. degree in physical education with a minor in science. After teaching for two years, he developed and led a "Youth for Christ" program in Aurora, Illinois, and was Regional Director for five years.

For the next nine years, Elmer served the First Presbyterian Church in Aurora, working with youth, college age, young married couples, and other pastoral duties.

Pastor Elmer earned a Master of Divinity degree from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School/McCormick Theological Seminary. In 1989, Elmer came to Eastminster Presbyterian Church in Indialantic, Florida, and went on to serve that church as an Associate Pastor, and later a Co-Pastor, for 22 years. Elmer felt led to leave Eastminster Presbyterian and form a church, "Life's Oasis," to reach out the lost in the community through Evangelical preaching and worshiping.

His family includes his wife Doris, and their two adult daughters, Becky and Leah. Elmer currently resides in Indian Harbour Beach, Florida.

Charles "Gibby" Gibson - Associate Pastor

Gibby grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelors of Science, having a dual major in Biology and Neuroscience. He also completed a Masters of Science degree also from Pitt in Environmental-Occupational Health and Toxicology from the Graduate School of Public Health.

Gibby went on to serve as a Deputy Sheriff with the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office in Tampa, Florida were he worked as a D.U.I. Investigator and a Drug Recognition Expert. He finally answered God's call to go into ministry. Gibby earned his Master of Divinity Degree with a concentration in Biblical Studies from Liberty University School of Divinity graduating with High Distinction in December 2017. Gibby is thankful and praises God for His relentless pursuit and love for each of us wanting "all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth" (1 Tim 2:4, NIV)

His family includes his wife Kathy, three daughters, Veronica, Emma, and Elizabeth, two cats and two dogs.


The purpose of Life's Oasis is to establish a congregation that is focused on spiritual growth, both personally and corporately, to have a passion for reaching out to the lost and hurting in our community, and to be a 'body' of loving, supportive, inviting "brothers and sisters."

"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

Matthew 28:19-20

Strategy and Implementation

For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord's holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge — that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Life's Oasis is a church of the people for the people. There are few paid staff because Ephesians 4:12 tells us that the church is here to "prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Chris may be built up." Life's Oasis will be Elder guided, but led by the church body, with a great desire to develop the gifts that God has given to every Christian.

Our focus will be on Biblical preaching and teaching, prayer, small groups, outreach, children and youth, and care for the needy in our community. Most congregational care will come from the communities that develop through small groups within the church. We are seeking volunteers to lead in the areas of hospitality, children's ministry, community participation, music, electronic communication, and Web maintenance, small group development and supervision.

The organizational model will be that of a "TEAM." There will be regular team and elder meetings, but these meetings are for encouragement and growth, more than to legislate or administrate. Meetings are scheduled to continually reinforce the vision and passion of the church.

So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.

Services and Programs

Life's Oasis is a church that has a desire to grow both through spiritual conversion, and by gathering those who have a passion to learn how to reach out to their circle of influence with God's grace and love. Life's Oasis is a group of people who actively seek to participate with Jesus as Kingdom builders!

We believe in excellent relevant worship and a loving children's ministry.

We focus on ministry to those that have not connected to any church in the area, especially single parents, young couples, and families.

We utilize the Pastor's experience in youth and evangelism.

But I have raised you up for this very purpose, that I might show you my power and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.
